Glamorgan have announced that Ned Leonard has signed a new two-year contract extension with the club, securing his future until the end of the 2028 season.

The 23-year-old seamer has impressed since arriving from Somerset in 2024 and has earned himself a new deal becoming a firm part of Richard Dawson’s plans moving forward. Dawson told the club, “Ned has shown real promise since joining us and he has worked incredibly hard to keep pushing his game forward.”

“He’s a talented young fast bowler with a great attitude, and we’re delighted he’ll be with us through to 2028. We believe he has a big future at Glamorgan.”

Leonard returned from an injury setback early in the season. His progress under Glamorgan’s coaching team has led the club to believe he can play a long-term role at the club.

The fast bowler has mainly cut his teeth in white ball cricket at Sophia Gardens playing a big part in the T20 and One Day Cup side. He boasts an impressive average of 15.70 in T20 cricket from his fourteen matches, including taking a five-for against his former side Somerset at Taunton. Taff & Daff understands Leonard was on the radar of England scouts for his white-ball performances in 2025. He also has 22 wickets in first-class cricket from the same number of games. He last played a first-class game for Glamorgan against Lancashire in September last year.

Leonard told the club upon extending his time in Cardiff, “I’m really pleased to extend my time with Glamorgan.

“The environment here has been brilliant for my development and I’m grateful for the support I’ve had from the coaches, staff and lads in the dressing room.

“I’m excited for what’s ahead and determined to contribute as much as I can over the next two seasons.”
