Glamorgan close the curtain on the 2026 season as they return home to face Essex in the final County Championship game. Glamorgan secured their Division One status last week with a historic double over Surrey at the Oval after a couple of terrible games beforehand had left them in a precarious position near the bottom.
This is the first meeting between the two sides this season in this competition, with Essex still not mathematically safe, just one place above the drop zone. Essex only need to take six points from the game to stay up even if Leicestershire take maximum points against title contenders Warwickshire. Leicestershire’s points deduction handed down from the ECB for the controversial pitch against Glamorgan has gone a long way to quashing any kind of final game relegation drama.
