CLUB WATCH: Gorvin and Horton in Wales' Premier League in Pursuit of T20 Blast Selection

Andy Gorvin and Alex Horton starred in varying results, earning vital preparation for the upcoming T20 Blast while competition for places have been heightened by the hat-trick heroics of Abergavenny's Tom Norton.

Playing for his allocated St Fagans, Gorvin bowled a ten-over spell with the new ball where he took 5 for 9 although it wasn’t enough to defend St Fagans’ 85, torn apart by Cardiff UCCE player Rory Nicholson who took five of his own for Ammanford.

Henry Hurle made yet another start without being able for kick-on for his come club Cardiff in their strong start to the season. Jack Hope-Bell fresh off a century and some useful contributions with the ball for Glamorgan Seconds had an incredibly efficient spell to see Newport to a low-scoring win.

And, Penarth and Usk played out a thriller separated by just two runs with helpful contributions throughout the order only countered by Quatari international Tamoor Zafar scoring 60 in vain. Romano Franco was promoted to bat four after some runs lower down for Glamorgan's Second XI in their recent white-ball outings. His cameo along with an economical spell of left-arm spin helped Penarth to their close win over the Usk side which saw both Billy Root and Will Smale unable to make noteworthy contributions.

In north Wales, Brymbo completed their second consecutive win in a comfortable chase. Denbigh, Manai Bridge and Northop’s dominant batting displays got them wins and two centuries between St Asaph and Bangor collided to leave the defending champions with back-to-back defeats.

Similarly, in the South Wales Women’s Premier League, defending champions The Panthers lost their second in a row while former Glamorgan player Lydia Clements showed all-round qualities despite being run out on 99, also taking a five-wicket haul. Cardiff also continued their impressive start with another dominant win.
