“It’s probably the most mental 45 minutes I’ve had on a cricket field in my life.”
After bowling 19 overs on Day One and being forced into media duties for taking three wickets, the last thing Tom Norton would’ve wanted or expected was to be walking off at the end of day two with 4 for 22 from another knees pumping 6.2 over spell.
At 229 all out, Glamorgan looked beaten. Colin Ingram’s first baller combined with Zain ul Hassan driving on seventh stump, Asa Tribe attempting to cut his first ball, scarcely getting it over the slips only to nick off the very next ball, Sean Dickson missing a straight half-volley, all contributed to what was a poor display. Albeit on a tricky surface, only Ben Kellaway and Chris Cooke somewhat saved Glamorgan's blushes.
After having to bowl in the morning to secure a final wicket, bowlers were strapping on their bowling boots again to have 13 overs at Somerset who held a 125-run lead. Enter 18-year-old Norton who told Taff & Daff after day one: “I love being thrown in the deep end.”
