CLUB WATCH: Glamorgan's Ones to Watch Continue to Shine at All Levels

Jac Kenchington, Glamorgan Academy all-rounder, struck 146 for Ammanford in a losing cause against Cardiff - an attack which included recent Glamorgan left-arm spinner Prem Sisodiya.

Lewis Popple, another academy player, scored 57 for the opposing side to help Cardiff to their total of 290. Newport though, seemingly missing Harry Wallace who is away with England Under-19s, fell to a seven-wicket defeat to Pontarddulais thanks to centuries from Sam Jardine and Matthew Fisher.

Also earning recognition this week from Glamorgan's increasingly impressive youth policy was Jacob Blades who was called up to the England Under-19 squad for their Tests with South Africa. Tom Norton has been left out of the squad and didn't feature in the three-match ODI series.

Elsewhere, Billy Root scored a half-century in a defeat for fellow title-chasers Usk against Ben Morris’ Abergavenny in their first win of the year. Romano Franco took 3 for 17 to bowl Carmarthen Wanderers out for just 98.

The North Wales Premier League is on its usual mid-season break with St Asaph sitting top of the table.

In the South Wales Women’s Premier League, Cardiff and The Panthers made a statement with high scores in dominant wins.

Youngster Elizabeth Cox scored 151 as The Panthers posted 415 for 4 in their 40 overs and former Southern Vipers all-rounder Sophie Mitchelmore struck 131 retired not out to pile Cardiff’s runs on in a convincing win to send them top of the table in both the men’s and women’s premier divisions.
