Head coach Rachel Priest admitted the performance fell short of the standards her side has set. Glamorgan began their season with a hard-fought win over Gloucestershire in a rain-affected contest at Sophia Gardens.
With the match reduced to 38 overs per side, Glamorgan elected to bowl first and produced a disciplined display to restrict Gloucestershire to a manageable total. Early breakthroughs ensured the visitors struggled to build momentum, despite a couple of batters threatening to convert promising starts to give the hosts a six-wicket win.
One of the standout performers with the ball was 17-year-old Poppy Walker, who continued her impressive development with a confident showing in the opening game of the season. Despite the result, Priest was candid in her assessment of the team’s overall performance.
