PREVIEW: The All Promoted Clash

After a strong start to life in Division One, Glamorgan were brought back down to earth last week at Trent Bridge by Championship holders Nottinghamshire. Glamorgan could only bring back three points from the midlands despite a positive start on day one which makes this week’s clash with fellow promoted side Leicestershire feel monumental even this early in the season.

Leicestershire, the Division Two title holders, sit just three points ahead of Glamorgan in eighth place in the table. After being thumped by Sussex in the opening round at Grace Road, the Foxes improved to take a well-earned draw with Surrey at the Oval on a pitch that might be declared a new motorway by the highway’s authorities. Over 1,400 runs were scored in just three innings, with Leicestershire scoring 691 of them in their first innings.
