Those in South Wales may not be as familiar with cockney rhyming slang as others but having been placed in a group with the old apples (Somerset) and pears (Worcestershire), it’s safe to say their campaign has gone up the apples and down the pears this season. A second defeat to Worcestershire this season on Sunday saw the Rapids, leapfrog Glamorgan into third place and left the Sophia Gardens faithful extremely frustrated after a collapse.
The defeat spoils Glamorgan’s perfect start to the second block of the T20 Blast after comfortable wins against Middlesex and Warwickshire. It’s a familiar tale as Glamorgan seem to have a knack of matching a win with a defeat the following game, despite being favourites and starting the game well. The game eerily mirrored the game at New Road, minus the light issues as the sun shined down on a pleasant evening in Cardiff.
