Do you believe in the boogey man? Some of the more superstitious minds in the Taunton crowd might be believing that Kiran Carlson is starting to emulate the mystical childhood villain and his Glamorgan team are harder to get rid of than a bad smell.
Carlson’s electrifying 109 last Friday was the second fastest century by a Glamorgan player in T20 history and propelled Glamorgan to a blow-out win at Sophia Gardens against the defending champions. As the teams prepare to face each other again at Taunton, the Cider Boys suddenly have something to prove again.
For Glamorgan, last Friday sparked an immense reaction to losing both of the opening two games. Another loss would have likely condemned them to another early exist in this competition or would have meant a miracle unbeaten run was needed to stand a chance of qualifying. It showed the bouncebackability and resilience that has got them to where they are in the County Championship this season and is the sign of a side with lofty ambitious and a real hunger for success. They have a chance to completely turn their fortunes for better or worse with this game marking the first of three in four days.
