Glamorgan Men are set to hand a first contract to a Welsh youngster and sign an experienced all-rounder ahead of 2027, Taff & Daff understands.
With injuries to bowlers aplenty for Glamorgan this season and contracts due to expire for Jamie McIlroy, Andy Gorvin and Dan Douthwaite – plus Ben Morris’ departure already announced – reinforcements could be required for another season in Division One of the County Championship and more options for white-ball cricket.
Joe Davies, 21, has played through Wales’ pathway and for Neath and Bridgend in club cricket before moving to Gloucestershire’s academy in his later teenage years. The left-arm seamer made seldom appearances in second XI cricket for Gloucestershire as a 17-year-old before starting university at Cardiff Metropolitan.
