Glamorgan boldly earned themselves an enthralling draw with Yorkshire on their return to Division One for the first time since 2005.
Kiran Carlson’s decision to declare six minutes before lunch divided on-watchers but it turned out to be a near-perfect call in his first game as permanent captain of the County Championship side.
The Welsh county picked up 12 points, bettering Yorkshire’s 10 points, to set a positive precedent ahead of a visit to Trent Bridge this week.
The declaration came at 218 for 5 after Colin Ingram top scored in the innings with 75 (to go with a first innings century), while Carlson scored his first half-century in the top flight. Yorkshire were set 295 to win in 68 overs.
