Playing county cricket has forever been not for the faint-hearted.

The powers that be decided to side with players to reduce the Vitality Blast group stage from 14 matches to 12 this season, and yet the schedule still hasn’t seem to have been fixed.

If you go to Australia, or speak to Australians playing cricket in England, there will be plenty of boisterous comments around the standard of the county game and how it doesn’t even qualify for First Grade levels but the challenge is something different.

Playing six four-day matches in seven weeks was new for Ryan Hadley at Glamorgan, and now Nathan McAndrew has to play three T20s in the space of four days, all on the road, while carrying an injury.
