Crane Hopes for Second Chance at Test Level

If you were following English cricket around 2016 and 2017 you might hear the name Mason Crane and think of a baby-faced leg spinner seemingly ripping through orders for Hampshire. A decade or so on, to the average England fan, it might be a name that has rather faded away. But Crane, now aged 29, has been plying his trade at Sophia Gardens since 2024 and could be a left field choice for a return to the England test side this summer.
“I think that’s always most people’s goal.” Crane began. “Earlier on in my career, getting a taste for it, I probably thought about it a bit too much when I was coming back from injury. It’s something that will take care of itself. My aim is to turn up every day and bowl as well as I can. If someone wants to pick me, that would be great, I’d love to do that.”
