Have Tom Blundell and Alex Carey set the standard for keeping for years to come? Chris Cooke, Glamorgan’s 40-year-old veteran wicket-keeper has seen nearly all, but this is more than we’ve seen before.
One of the big talking points of the recent England international series – maybe slightly overshadowed in its impact on the series result by England’s headless final two days on Test cricket on Ben Stokes – but nonetheless Blundell was a difference.
Of course, we’ve seen it before. There’s every chance that if you’re a cricket fan of a certain age (or you spend enough time circulating cricket on social media) you’ll have watched the great Jack Russell standing up to seamers, sprawling down the leg-side almost as if he requested the ball there to show off his talents. But now to Blundell, and Carey, it is might well become the norm. So should it be?
