Red ball cricket returns to England and Wales this week as England take on Pakistan and the country’s top-flight restarts with the final block of the County Championship as Glamorgan head to Grace Road to take on Leicestershire. Glamorgan’s bid to ensure they remain in the highest tier of English domestic cricket could largely hinge around their next two games as they play the two sides currently occupying the relegation spots in successive weeks.
The tale of the tape as it stands sees Glamorgan in fourth place, just nine points behind Nottinghamshire at the top of the table and 35 points in-front of opponents Leicestershire who are currently propping up the table. Although some fans might be looking up, the focus for these first two games will surely be limiting the amount of points Leicestershire and Hampshire take from Glamorgan and maintaining the healthy gap between themselves and the drop zone.
