Glamorgan Legend Cooke Announces Retirement at the End of 2026 Season

Chris Cooke has announced his retirement as a professional cricketer after spending 16 years at Glamorgan.
The wicket-keeper batter has only played for the Welsh county since coming to the UK in 2010, earning a county cap in 2016, a testimonial year in 2024 and three seasons as captain between 2019 and 2021.
The 40-year-old’s retirement will come at the end of the 2026 season with six matches in the County Championship still to play.
The South-African born Glamorgan star had to bide his time to earn the gloves off Mark Wallace, now Cooke’s director of cricket, when his predecessor retired in 2016. Since then, Cooke has had 564 dismissals across all three formats including some memorable leg-side stumpings and exceptional acrobatic catches.
