Zain ul Hassan says he’s “comfortable” with his game after scoring a monumental first professional century in his career.
Coming into the game against Hampshire, ul Hassan had 31 games in first-class cricket under his belt and a top score of 69, one of four fifties. His time spent at the top of the order in the County Championship since joining Glamorgan was new territory for the all-rounder.
His controlled innings in a mammoth day in which Glamorgan piled on 353 for 1 at the Utilita Bowl was epitomised by the partnership between the Pakistan-born opener and his captain Kiran Carlson, eventually combining for 318 before the ul Hassan's innings could only be halted by a direct hit from the boundary with ul Hassan having made 143.
“There was a bit of relief just to get there.” Ul Hassan said, beaming with joy and seemingly rushing with adrenaline when he came to talk to Taff & Daff just five minutes after play closed on day one with a maiden first-class century now attached to his name.
